The Catholic in me feels guilty for writing a negative review about a book with “Jesus” in the title, but it must be done. Having recently read the Bible cover to cover, and being a Professor of Management and Leadership, high hopes ensued when I purchased this book. However, the connections do the Bible and the teachings of Jesus were surface level at best. Most of the book was the authors personal stories, opinions, and examples. I could not count on both hands the number of sentences that started with, “When I was a consultant...” “I believe ...” “ I think...” I’m sorry, but I didn’t buy this book to read the authors opinion. I bought it to connect Bible lessons with the business world. Big failure, sorry. You’d be better off buying a Bible and reading the Proverbs and Psalms sections. I was assigned this book to read as an assignment for a leadership fellowship. Now I'm not a person who is big on religion, so I was not looking forward to reading this book. Imagine me pleasantly surprised when I read the book and enjoyed the read. The book doesn't beat you over the head with religious dogma. It simply looks at how you can be a better leader by looking at how Jesus Christ was as a leader. It's more of a development devotional. Easy to read and understand. I'm a college professor and I am now giving copies of the book to some of my students who I think will benefit from the lessons.
